From:
Kingdom of Hawai’i

Studied:
In his teens, he was sent to the United States to study at Phillips Academy. He also received his B.A. from Yale University in 1898, another degree at University of California, Berkeley in 1900, and a PhD at Harvard University in 1905.He is recognized as one of the people who brought the Incan city of Machu Picchu to the world’s attention, although it is also recognized that his “archaeology” could also be interpreted as looting. He may have been an inspiration for the character of Indiana Jones.
