When her mother was appointed Burmese ambassador to India and Nepal, Aung San Suu Kyi studied in New Delhi at the Convent of Jesus and Mary School and graduated from Lady Shri Ram College with a degree in politics in 1964.  She continued her education at St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford (United Kingdom), where she earned a B.A. degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in 1969.  She completed a PhD at the School of Oriental and African Studies (United Kingdom) in 1985.
