People Who Studied Abroad #16:Alexander Hamilton, first United States Secretary of the Treasury From: Born on the Caribbean island of Nevis, raised on Nevis and St Croix Studied: Elizabethtown Academy - Elizabethtown, NJ (United States) King’s College (now Columbia University) - New York City, NY (United States) (I wonder if Hamilton himself would have considered his experience “studying abroad”, since he was going from one British colony to another and then on to a third, and the places he lived only became separate countries after he’d received his degrees. Surely there must have been some culture shock in moving from the Caribbean to New Jersey… so I have decided that for the purposes of this Tumblr, we’ll call it studying abroad!)
