Fictional Characters Who Studied Abroad #25:
Alex, Joel and Laura, French Postcards

Joel: [trying to speak French] Yesterday, we suffer the weather wet. The salt was all grey and the sky falls down. But today everyone is chestnuts! In America we find clouds in my house, too. I live in the trees, you see. This will laugh you, but often I am your spy as I voyage daily on top of the subway.
Toni: [in English] You know, I don’t understand anything you’re saying.
Joel: You don’t speak French?
Toni: Not your French.

The film was pretty disjointed and I was a lot more interested in Joel and Toni’s story than anyone else, but it was still pretty amusing. If you’re looking for a study abroad movie, I’d recommend L’Auberge Espagnole first, but this could be a good backup.
