The beauty in this is in the reflection of a time that some of us don’t get to have, a time where you spend a few months with new people in a completely new country. Sometimes it can even call for a new beginning.
This post is a pure reflection on my study abroad experience I recently had. I had been studying abroad in Mérida, Mexico, a city located on the Yucatan peninsula in one of the very safe parts of the country. One thing I want to say is that the image I have of this city is the polar opposite of the image portrayed of Mexico in the press. So many people think that the entire country is in a violent state full of war and other unfortunate happenings related to the drug violence. However, I probably could not have stayed in a more safer region in a more safer city. This city was paradise in a few ways. I lived in a house with a local family and attended classes at a local university where all of them had been conducted in Spanish. On the weekends, there were several clubs to go to and a beach about 30 minutes to the north, which was so picturesque and relaxing…
