People Who Studied Abroad #363:
Kamisese Mara, Prime Minister of Fiji (1967-1987) and cricketer
He studied at Sacred Heart College in Auckland, New Zealand, then studied medicine at Knox College, University of Otago (NZ) from 1942 to 1945. He did not complete his medical studies because his great-uncle wanted to groom him to lead the country and so arranged for Mara to study history at Wadham College, University of Oxford (United Kingdom), where he earned an M.A. in 1949. He returned to the UK 1961-62 and received a Diploma in Economics and Social Administration at the London School of Economics.
